MPCUG President Jim Goodman’s computer hard drive "died" (Blue Screen) If this happens to you, what is your back-up plan or do you have one. 

"Luckily, I had installed SkyDrive on my computer. The nice thing about SkyDrive is you can get access to data anyplace in the world, even if your computer is turned off."

The program for this month is to be about SkyDrive and Windows 8--which as announced to be available on Oct 26, 2012. At that time, the price of a Window 8 Pro upgrade will be $40.

SkyDrive (officially Microsoft SkyDrive, formerly Windows Live SkyDrive) is a file hosting service that allows users to upload and sync files to a cloud storage and then access them from a Web browser or their local device. The service offers 7 GB of free storage for new users.  The new Office 2013 is an integral part of SkyDrive!
 


As usual, the gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the Random Access Special Interest Group, where members can get their most pressing computer questions answered. Following dinner at 7:30 p.m., Goodman    will make his presentation.

The event will take place at Denny's Restaurant 1525 McHenry Ave. Next to the Heritage Inn, formerly Vagabond Inn, just South of Granger Ave.



If you have anything that you would be willing to donate to our club for the drawings that we have, they will be gratefully accepted. Be sure to wear your name badge for the drawing.  

 

It would be nice if you could also remind our members to bring their used magazines, books, videos, and DVD's, and cassettes for distribution to Veterans in our area. Item donations for our drawings would also be appreciated.
