The "NEW" IPAD:
Is it a Toy, an Entertainment Platform, an Educational Tool, a Productivity Devise--OR "All of the Above?

by Terry Fix

Starting Price: $499

In his presentation, Terry Fix will attempt to show that an individual tailor the iPad for whatever the person's needs and wants--be it to "babysit" grandkids with computer games;

watch videos and TV shows; be schooled on interactive textbooks;  edit and organize photos or videos; do social networking; etc., etc.

If you purchase one--should you just get a Wi-Fi version or one that is both Wi-Fi and hooked up to a data account with AT&T or Verizon?

Or--should you wait for the Windows 8 tablets to come out later this year?

Also, MPCUG dues will change, no increase.  We go from January to January.  Our records show some members has not paid dues for 18 months.

As usual, the gathering will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the Random Access Special Interest Group, where members can get their most pressing computer questions answered. Following dinner at 7:30 p.m., Fix will make his presentation.

The event will take place at Denny's Restaurant 1525 McHenry Ave. Next to the Heritage Inn, formerly Vagabond Inn, just South of Granger Ave.

If you have anything that you would be willing to donate to our club for the drawings that we have, they will be gratefully accepted. Be sure to wear your name badge for the drawing.

It would be nice if you could also remind our members to bring their used magazines, books, videos, and DVD's, and cassettes for distribution to Veterans in our area. Item donations for our drawings would also be appreciated.
